Quality management (QM) manuals are a thing of the past—we focus on a living quality culture with concrete rules that can be implemented in everyday work. After intensive preparatory work, we have introduced a new, uniform quality management system for all divisions of the Rieck Logistics Group. We have moved away from the manuals with extensive QM specifications that we used previously – because pages and pages of standards alone do not bring about improvements. We are now achieving higher quality with our new concept and practical guidelines.
Our new system is coordinated by QM managers in each Rieck branch. Together with the central team and, of course, site management, they are working to embed the concept locally and bring it to life in everyday work.
Continuously improving
The catalog of measures includes, for example, regular quality training courses that are tailored precisely to the priorities of the respective departments and teams. In addition, cross-divisional internal audits and follow-up meetings with managers take place at regular intervals. Here, progress and potential for improvement are continuously assessed and appropriate measures defined.
Success times four
Our new QM system has already been used in four certification projects in recent months: We successfully completed the recertification according to ISO 9001 at Rieck Fulfillment Solutions in Berlin as a pilot project. We were able to repeat this positive result with the ISO 9001 recertification of Rieck Projekt Kontrakt Logistik in Hamburg. In both projects, our new QM approach was very well received by all those involved – the auditor from the certification company as well as the participants from the branches – and was praised as "refreshing and helpful."
We were also successful in completing the recertification of our Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik in Neuss as a specialist waste management company. The audit process covered our operational organization as well as the reliability and expertise of our staff and compliance with official regulations.
The recently completed initial certification of the entire Rieck Logistics Group according to ISO 27001 marks a real milestone for our company. This has enabled us to create a uniform security basis across the group in order to anchor information technology processes in our company in a systematic, verifiable, and transparent manner.
Over a period of eighteen months, the entire management system was completely rebuilt and integrated into our organization. And the successful certification proves that we accepted the challenge and accomplished our mission!
