There are a total of five fixed flights from Frankfurt to Shanghai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Also on board: around 16 so-called trays every week, on which the goods are assembled according to the airlines' precise specifications. "We have a well-coordinated team in Frankfurt that not only works great together, but also has an excellent network," says Philipp Hupel, Frankfurt Branch Manager at Rieck Sea Air Cargo International (RSACI). "Some of them have been working for us at the site for almost 20 years."
Thanks to its close network, Rieck has been able to meet all customer requests - and has doubled its air freight volume to Shanghai to around 50 tons since December. A wide range of goods are loaded: from automotive accessories to household goods and bottling plants. "We also transport some classes of hazardous goods such as paints, varnishes and airbag modules," explains Philipp Hupel. "We have our own warehouse just five minutes from the airport for this purpose."
Demand for air freight transport is also continuing to increase due to the ongoing severe delays in shipping. Rieck is therefore planning to expand further capacities in the summer - to and from Shanghai. The company has already had its own location there for years and has also been operating a sales office in nearby Kunshan since September 2021. The Rieck team is currently working on applying for its own license from IATA (International Air Transport Association; the international industry association for the air transport industry) in order to be able to carry out transports from China under its own management.
