Smart on the move

Digital, mobile, efficient: new handhelds in Neuss simplify processes - and save paper at the same time.

The digitalization of work processes at Rieck Entsorgungs-Logistik continues: we have successively equipped all roll-off and drop-off vehicles with handhelds - a compact, small handheld scanner that can be operated with one hand. Instead of printing out various documents such as delivery bills or acceptance reports for each customer and giving them to the driver, the small device now accompanies the drivers throughout the day.

All information is stored on it. Digital signatures can then be easily recorded on site, comments entered, photos taken or container numbers registered. External receipts can also be scanned and provided with barcodes. At the end of the tour, the collected data is transferred to our system with a single click - and is then immediately available in full, digitally and transparently for each order.

Intuitive for users, good for the environment

"When selecting the software, we made sure that it was easy and self-explanatory to use and that all the necessary processes could be mapped," explains Julia Behr, Controlling. In an initial test phase, we put the handhelds through their paces in everyday practice. All future users were then trained.

The feedback from the drivers is clear: the fact that all information is available centrally, paper documents no longer need to be carried around and everything can be documented directly on site makes the work steps much easier.

But what we are just as pleased about is that the digital solution has noticeably reduced our paper consumption!

Signatures are now made directly on the handheld - in the evening, all the data for a process is in the system with just one click.
