Robert Böttcher is a high-flyer. He has been a professional pilot since 2004 and also teaches others to fly in his spare time. "It all started with a glider flight over Kyritz in Brandenburg," says the 42-year-old. "I've been addicted to flying ever since." In search of his own plane, he found what he was looking for in Arizona in the fall of 2017. "A Beechcraft 35 Bonanza built in 1947 is my dream plane," says the pilot. "It's a touring plane, but also a classic car. It was way ahead of its time in 1947 and is still relevant today."
Over the Grand Canyon
After buying the plane, Robert Böttcher flew it to Seattle. He often spent time there on business and was able to combine business with pleasure. "The last trip I made there was with my family over the Grand Canyon to Mount Rushmore. That was unique!"
In 2020, the Berliner finally wanted to bring the propeller plane to Germany. He enlisted the support of Rieck Sea Air Cargo International (RSACI). "We organized the entire shipment in a 40-foot high-cube container to Bremerhaven, customs clearance and transport to Berlin via our logistics network Tandem Global Logistics," says Tanja Feldvoß from RSACI in Hamburg, who oversaw the project. "It was a great collaboration. We were very happy to support Mr. Böttcher with all questions relating to the transport."
Today, the plane is parked near Berlin. "Instead of flying over the Rocky Mountains, I now fly over the Baltic Sea," says Robert Böttcher. "And thanks to Rieck, I can take off in my dream plane at any time!"
