"You're never finished with leadership."

Our new Dresden branch manager Ricarda Zeisig on leadership, communication and criticism.

At the end of June, Ricarda Zeisig (44) took over as branch manager at our Dresden location. She has almost 25 years of experience in the logistics industry and has already proven herself in various management roles at Reinert Logistik, from scheduling to sales and company organization. "With her strong strategic and operational focus, she is an absolute asset to us. She will help us to further develop the site and continue our growth course," says Michael Gruner, Managing Director. We want to get to know Ricarda Zeisig better - so we asked her!

Rieck has had a site in Dresden for over 30 years - now with over 80 employees

How was your start at Rieck?

Warm and challenging at the same time. From one day to the next, so many new faces and names, lots of new processes, a new working environment and surroundings. But I felt well supported right from the start and always got an answer to my countless questions - and that's still the case.

What is particularly important to you as a manager?

Leadership is one of the biggest challenges in day-to-day work. Because it always has to be individually tailored - to the respective employee or the respective topic. It is also a task that you are never finished with. With every new topic, you have to ask yourself: How do you approach the employee? How do you formulate your topics? How do you deal with setbacks?

How do you live communication?

The top priority in everything is respectful and appreciative communication. It is important to address issues constructively so that we can continuously improve. This provides a valuable opportunity for further development. I think there is always room for improvement and we can work together to become even better at giving and accepting constructive feedback.

What experiences have you had as a woman in the logistics industry?

Fortunately only good ones - I don't know of any situations in which my suggestions or comments were rejected or not taken seriously because I am a woman. But what is noticeable is that as soon as a woman is present, the tone in men's meetings becomes more polite.
