The Indo-Pacific accounts for around a third of non-European EU trade, making it the EU's most important foreign trade region. At the same time, the Indo-Pacific is the fastest-growing region in the world. The EU has already concluded free trade agreements with Korea, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam - given the size of the market and its rapid growth, there is still a great deal of potential here.
"This is highly relevant for our customers," says Philipp Strenge, our Managing Partner. "Together with our TANDEM network, we will now further expand trade lanes between China and Southeast Asia, such as Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as between China and South America." To this end, our corporate law activities in the region have now been reorganized.
We were a founding member of TANDEM in 2007, are a shareholder in the international network and, with the air and sea freight division RSACI, are the exclusive partner company for Germany.
We have now acquired shares in TANDEM Holding (HK) Limited with retroactive effect from January 1, 2023. At the same time, this company is joining our China company - resulting in the new operating company TANDEM Rieck Shanghai Co. Ltd.
And what does that mean?
In addition to our headquarters in Shanghai, we now have branches in nine other cities in China: Beijing, Dalian, Guanghzou, Kunshan, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xiamen. We are further expanding the trade lanes between China and Southeast Asia and between China and South America.
Thanks to the new constellation, we have also virtually doubled our volume and turnover - this will have a positive impact on the purchase of capacity from the carriers.
In addition, the two transactions have strengthened the TANDEM network and further advanced its global orientation. The Management Board of the new China company includes Philipp Strenge and Robert Powell (both for TANDEM Holding) and Shiye Zhou (for RSACI Germany). Our experienced RSACI China manager Jecy Shen will take over the management of the new company.
