Tradition meets innovation: The history of Rosti begins in 1944, when Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jørgensen start manufacturing buttons in Denmark. Right from the start, they used the injection molding process. This innovative and at the time still relatively new method enabled a higher production volume at lower costs compared to conventional compression molds.
The buttons are followed by millions of other products that Rosti manufactures to order. The company, which is now based in Malmö in southern Sweden, supplies innovative solutions for a wide range of industries such as packaging, automotive and medicine. And they enrich our everyday lives - from the first cup of coffee in the morning to keeping our food and drinks fresh for longer.
3 billion locks per year from Dresden
Rosti GP Germany GmbH in Dresden specializes in precisely this area. It is one of ten Rosti national companies in Europe and Asia and primarily manufactures closures for food and cosmetics packaging. The approximately 80 employees produce more than three billion screw and twist-off closures and thousands of packagings every year.
Production is particularly sustainable: in addition to environmental and energy management certification, Rosti Germany is also taking part in a sustainability project initiated by the city of Dresden. This has improved the management of residual and recyclable materials, minimized production waste and reduced the energy requirements of the entire plant. Rosti is also working on replacing petroleum-based plastics with more environmentally friendly alternatives and reducing CO2 emissions during transportation.
On land, on water and in the air
The collaboration with Rieck began at the start of this year with the shipment of sea freight to Pakistan. "Since then, we have been supporting Rosti with air and sea freight transportation as well as general cargo and freight transport," explains David Hofmann, Team Leader at Rieck Sea Air Cargo International in Dresden. "This mainly involves plastic cans, so-called nano-cans. Their demand is constantly growing: We are currently planning to switch our sea freight from LCL to FCL, as we will soon be able to fill entire containers with Rosti's goods." The two partners also see potential in the partial and full loads that Rieck delivers to Rosti customers throughout Europe by truck from Dresden.
Supply Chain Manager Martin Rißland sums up what Rosti Germany particularly appreciates about its transport partner Rieck: "The cooperation with Rieck is characterized above all by honesty, professionalism in the areas of quality and communication as well as a very friendly and familiar approach. Rieck always works with us to find solutions to master the constantly growing logistical challenges. This makes our work much easier."
